Kimberly Powers

As a freelancer, Kim’s designs have been seen in various venues across the country. She was the Resident Set Designer and Props Master for Ocean State Theatre Company’s inaugural season 2012-2013; Resident Set Designer for Ohio Light Opera (2008-2015); and first Design Assistant at The Denver Center Theatre Company for the 2006-2008 seasons. She also worked at the Cleveland Play House, where she cut my teeth as a scenic artist for the 2002-2003 season.

She has been working as a freelance scenic artist since 2000, has created public art in Arkansas and Tulsa, and has been commissioned as a fine artist and muralist. Additionally, she has worked professionally as a props master, event designer and coordinator, graphic designer, and exhibit designer. She has also taught in the Theatre Departments at The University of Missouri Kansas City, The University of Arkansas, Coastal Carolina University, The University of Tulsa, and Colby College.

She received my Master of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University and is a proud member of United Scenic Artists Local 829. Last, but certainly not least, she is a lover of running, cycling, and being in nature; and she is a very proud mom to both a dog and a human, as well as a partner to my taller half.
